Over the past several months, 4th and 5th grade students from Tanner Elementary had the incredible opportunity to participate in the STEAM Max program at CSU Dominguez Hills (CSUDH)—a hands-on experience focused on science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
Starting in January, about 40 Tanner students visited the CSUDH campus once a month to design and build their own mobile apps. Throughout the process, students collaborated in teams, tackled challenges, and even created commercials to promote their app ideas.
Out of nearly 30 participating elementary and middle schools, Tanner Elementary’s Team Healthy Vibes was named one of eight finalists—a huge accomplishment! On May 23rd, during the CSUDH STEAM Showcase, they pitched their app and presented their commercial to a panel of judges, including professionals from Apple.
We’re proud to share that Team Healthy Vibes was selected as one of only three winners, taking home iPads as their prize! 🏆👏
To cap off a fun and inspiring day, students enjoyed a variety of hands-on STEAM activities outdoors. The entire experience highlighted the creativity, collaboration, and innovation of our amazing Tanner Tigers!
Congratulations to all our students, and a special shoutout to Team Healthy Vibes—you made Tanner Elementary proud!
